Columbus Works

Columbus Works is a non-profit organization moving Central Ohioans out of poverty through sustained employment. They provide trauma-informed and brain science-informed job readiness training, professional life coaching, wraparound case management, one-on-one employment coaching, and ongoing professional development.

Columbus Works was looking for consultation on their visual communication which included a more clearer promotion of their unique approach to fighting poverty. The IDH team conducted a design thinking audit and offered suggested ideas to improve on this communication.

Most of Columbus Works members (clients) come to the organization having experienced major barriers to sustaining long term employment. These include lack of access to affordable childcare, lack of transportation, unresolved trauma, homelessness, criminal justice involvement, or serious mental and behavioral health challenges. Columbus Works accepts everyone who needs these services, and they walk with them until they are stable, employed full-time, and on their way to upward economic mobility!
